Support when family responsibilities leave little room for you

For adults in Vienna and Oakton, therapy can focus on the emotional strain that follows you through an otherwise ordinary day. A message from a co-parent may unsettle you for hours. A conversation with a parent may leave you rehearsing what you should have said. You might keep everyone else comfortable while feeling unsure whether you are allowed to be upset.

You do not need to have every relationship figured out before seeking support. Sessions can help you notice patterns, name feelings, and consider what you need without having to justify your experience. The aim is to give your concerns sustained attention, including the parts you have learned to minimize.

Co-parenting stress without losing sight of yourself

Sharing parenting responsibilities with a difficult ex can bring recurring anxiety, anger, or self-doubt. You may feel pressure to respond immediately, explain yourself repeatedly, or absorb hurtful exchanges so that daily life keeps running. Therapy provides emotional support as you explore your reactions, prepare for stressful interactions, and practice boundaries that reflect your needs.

This work stays focused on your emotional wellbeing. It does not provide legal advice, custody recommendations, or decisions about parenting agreements. If legal questions arise, those belong with a qualified legal professional. Therapy can help you process the feelings surrounding those questions and recognize when you need additional support.

When the difficult relationship is with a parent

Adult children of narcissistic parents may find that old expectations still shape present choices. Saying no can feel disloyal. Asking for space can trigger guilt. You may notice people-pleasing in your family, at work, or in relationships, even when you know that agreeing will leave you exhausted.

Jami’s approach centers on recovery from narcissistic and emotional abuse. Together, you can explore how these experiences affect self-trust, work on recognizing your own preferences, and practice expressing limits. Boundaries are something to understand and develop over time, with attention to your circumstances and the emotional responses that come with change.

Secure video sessions that fit around real responsibilities

All sessions take place online through secure video. There are no in-person appointments or office visits. You must be physically located in Virginia during every session, even if you normally live in Virginia but are traveling elsewhere that day. Choose a private setting where you can speak freely and attend without interruptions.

Online care is available to adults in Vienna, Oakton, Dunn Loring, Merrifield, and the City of Fairfax, as well as elsewhere in Virginia. Having sessions online removes the trip to an office, but your time still deserves protection. Planning for privacy and a pause from household tasks can help you give the conversation your attention.

Fees and a first conversation

Sessions are $175 each and self-pay. A superbill is available on request for possible out-of-network reimbursement; reimbursement depends on your plan. You can check your benefits with your insurer before deciding whether to submit one. A free 15-minute consultation is a chance to describe what brings you here, ask questions, and discuss whether working with Jami feels appropriate.
