Specialized support without the trip to an office
You might have considered therapy before, then put it aside because getting there felt like one more obstacle. Online sessions remove the journey while keeping a dedicated conversation on your calendar. Whether you live in Leesburg, Sterling, or farther west, you can seek support from a private location without organizing your day around travel to an appointment.
The convenience matters, but so does what you bring into that space. Perhaps a parent’s call leaves you unsettled, or a family gathering takes days to recover from. Therapy gives you time to examine those experiences instead of rushing past them and telling yourself they should not matter.
When family expectations keep pulling you back
Strain with a narcissistic parent or difficult in-laws can leave you caught between protecting yourself and keeping the peace. You may anticipate criticism before a visit, soften every request, or feel responsible for another adult’s disappointment. Even small decisions can become exhausting when you expect them to be questioned or challenged.
Sessions can help you separate your own preferences from expectations you have carried for years. You can explore guilt, consider boundaries, and notice when explaining yourself becomes an attempt to earn permission. The work allows room for complicated feelings about family without requiring you to make immediate decisions about those relationships.
Emotional support through co-parenting stress
Contact with a difficult co-parent can bring anxiety into otherwise ordinary routines. You may reread messages, brace for disagreements, or struggle to settle after an exchange. Therapy can focus on understanding those reactions and developing ways to care for yourself before and after stressful contact.
This is emotional support only. Jami does not provide legal advice, custody guidance, or recommendations about parenting agreements. Those questions belong with an appropriate legal professional. Your sessions can address the feelings surrounding those situations, including frustration, grief, and the pressure to stay composed while you are hurting.
Making sense of anxiety and second-guessing
After repeated dismissal or emotional manipulation, trusting your own judgment may feel unfamiliar. You might review conversations for mistakes, question whether your needs are reasonable, or worry that setting a limit will make things worse. These are concerns you can bring to therapy without first proving that your experience was serious enough.
Jami’s focus on narcissistic and emotional abuse recovery provides a place to examine relationship patterns and their effects on your sense of self. Together, you can identify what you want support with and practice giving your own feelings consideration.

Frequently asked questions
I work in DC or Maryland. Can I have sessions there?
No. You must be physically in Virginia during every session. Living in Virginia does not make a session from a workplace in DC or Maryland possible. Plan a private location within Virginia.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Online therapy can support meaningful therapeutic work, though suitability depends on your needs and circumstances. Privacy, a reliable connection, and feeling comfortable on video matter. Discuss whether this format fits you during your consultation.
