When a small world makes it harder to talk
In a close-knit community, the person who hurt you may share your friends, your workplace, or your kids' activities. You might keep quiet so you don't have to explain, or worry about how things would look if you did. Sometimes the easiest thing is to act as if everything is fine.
Therapy gives you one place where you don't have to manage how your story lands. You can talk honestly about a partner, an ex, or a family member, sort through what happened, and figure out what you need now, without anyone else in your life involved.
Rebuilding trust in yourself
After someone has repeatedly blamed you, twisted your words, or made you doubt your memory, it's common to feel unsure of your own judgment. You might apologize for things that aren't your fault, feel guilty for setting a limit, or keep going back to a relationship you know has hurt you.
With Jami, you can understand how those patterns took hold, quiet the self-blame, and practice boundaries that feel realistic. Learn more about narcissistic abuse recovery therapy in Virginia.
Anxiety, low mood, and big transitions
Charlottesville brings plenty of change: new jobs, graduate programs, moves, and people coming and going. Change can stir up worry, and a hard relationship can leave you feeling flat or worn out long after it ends. Jami treats anxiety and depression, either on their own or alongside abuse recovery, at a pace that works for you.
Online sessions that fit Charlottesville life
All sessions take place by secure video. There is no Charlottesville office and there are no in-person appointments, so you won't need to drive in on Route 29 or I-64 or find parking near the Downtown Mall. You just need a private space and a steady connection.
Because Jami is licensed in Virginia, you need to be physically in Virginia during each session. If you're a student or work at a university and head out of state for breaks, conferences, or summer, plan your sessions for the times you're back in Virginia.
Serving Charlottesville and nearby communities
Online sessions are available to adults in Charlottesville, Crozet, Ivy, Earlysville, Pantops, and Keswick, and across Albemarle County. They're also available an hour east in Short Pump and Richmond's West End, and anywhere else in Virginia.
Fees
Sessions are $175 each, self-pay. If you have out-of-network benefits, Jami can give you a superbill to submit to your insurer; reimbursement depends on your plan. Jami is also in network with UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, and Aetna, and coverage varies by plan. You can ask about fees and insurance during your free consultation.
