Naming patterns without losing yourself in labels

Gaslighting can involve denying, minimising, or rewriting events in a way that makes you question your own perception. DARVO describes a pattern of denying wrongdoing, attacking the person who raised the concern, and reversing the roles of victim and offender. Love bombing can feel like overwhelming attention, affection, or promises that later give way to criticism, distance, or control.

These words can be useful when they help you describe a pattern. You do not have to prove a term applies before you deserve support. The most important question is how the relationship has affected your sense of safety, self-trust, and freedom to be yourself.

From confusion to clearer choices

Repeated manipulation can make ordinary decisions feel exhausting. You may over-explain, apologise automatically, or search for the one way to communicate that will finally make everything calm. Therapy can help you step back from that cycle and identify what you need.

Together, we can strengthen your ability to trust your reactions, set boundaries that are realistic, and make choices from a place of greater steadiness.
